Happy Holidays

While I rarely share personal info, I can honestly say I love all the holidays.  Yes, I love Hanukkah, the Ramadan celebration, and many more holidays, but I don’t ever want to lose sight of celebrating Christmas, as well as wishing those that celebrate this holiday a Merry Christmas.   What ever holiday you celebrate, I hope it is a happy one for you and your family.  I also wish for you a very happy and healthy New Year, with time to enjoy and create.

I want to thank and recognize all of the sponsors for our recent “12 Days of Christmas Giveaways”.  All of the winners have been announced, notified and their special Christmas gifts are in the process of being shipped.  While I had hoped that this would have been done so that these gifts would arrive in time to open on Christmas, the “Grinch” hijacked my website and the downtime created a delay.  But the lucky winners will receive their prize very soon.

Thank you to all of our generous sponsors:

This Holiday season, let’s spread happiness and good cheer.

Lastly, I’d like to ask a special favor of you.  Diane Gaudynski is an amazing award winning quilter, Master free-motion quilter, teacher and author.  She retired a few years back from teaching and rarely updates her blog.  She just released another blog post and I believe she’d love to hear from you.  Thus, I hope you can take a few moments to pop over to her blog and leave some kind words to share good Holiday cheer with her.  You can find her blog at:

Thank you to everyone who shared their creativity this past week.  They were all absolutely beautiful and inspirational, each filled with total #CreativeGoodness.

Today, I want to heighten awareness of a stunning project that Connie of Freemotion by the River shared.  It is called “Kaleidoscope Bloom”.

I believe Connie used scanned in some beautiful fabric, from Island Batik, and used the feather pack collection for Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 software, to create an amazing focal block, that she then framed with a complimentary inner border, while the outer border was the fabric she used to scan in to KK3 software.  Absolutely amazing.  Be sure to click thru to visit her blog post to learn more.  And don’t overlook the opportunity to follow Connie’s blog, as she always shares inspirational projects, tips, tutorials and all sorts of #CreativeGoodness.

Here is the linky tool for our #CreativeGoodness Party this week.  Basically any form of creativity that you wish to share and inspire others is welcome:

2015 Spring Quilt Market Sneak Peek (Part 2): New Fabrics, Threads and Needles

Prior to Quilt Market, Fabric companies and designers work to get new designs ready to share at Market.  This is the best opportunity for store owners and buyers to place orders for their stores, as they get to see all of the fabrics in one place, as well as many quilt samples that use these fabrics.

Being a buyer must be an overwhelming job given so many beautiful choices.  While I can’t share with you today all the new fabrics (or inspirational sample quilts), I did want to share some sneak peeks with you.  I definitely want to encourage all Market attendees to pop by these Fabric companies to check out there new lines.  Here are a few teasers of what will be shared at Market.

 TIMELESS TREASURES  – booth #2618/2619

Introducing a new Microtex 60/8 needle, which is the first time the titanium coating has been applied to on the Microtex system (extends the life of a needle 6-8 times).

Here are a few more tips on things to remember to bring to Quilt Market:

– a couple of small ziplocks can come in handy when it is time to pack.  They also help to store business cards you pick up, as well as other small items.

– comfy shoes.  Bring a couple of different pairs of comfy shoes so you are not wearing the same shoes every day, to give your feet variety to help prevent sore and tired feet.  If you haven’t yet tried the Oofa sandals you may want to give them a try. Amazing cushion and support.

About the Author:

A love of color and fabric have led Connie Kauffman to an enjoyable career in quilt designing. For many years, she has designed quilt patterns for books and magazines, and she enjoys trying out new ideas and designs. She is grateful to her mother, who taught her to sew and introduced her to the world of fabrics.

Connie began her vocational career as a special-education teacher before focusing on raising her own two children. Her son and daughter now have their own homes and careers in teaching. Connie lives with her husband in Nappanee, Indiana, where she is also involved in numerous church and community activities. Visit her website to see more of her work:

 My Review:

All of the patterns in this book come with easy to follow instructions with great visuals.  There are also sections for Special Techniques for Mini Quilts that share information on Fabrics, Supplies, Paper Piecing, Quilting, and Hanging Sleeve, making this book an excellent book for quilters of all levels.  And when you consider that this book has 15 patterns, when you compare the price of buying stand-alone patterns, this book is an exceptional value.

I hope you get a chance to check out this inspirational new book at your local quilt shops, but if you don’t see it, remember to let them know you are interested in having them carry it.  As it is a new book, they may not be aware of it.  Of course, you can also check it out online at Martingale, as well as

To get you in the mood, I thought I’d share this video clip of an early day with
Buddy Holly.  It isn’t the best recording of this particular song, but I love the introduction and how it does set the mood.  This is certainly the period where Sock Hops were “the happening” place for fun.

All are high quality, handmade organizers.  SewCalGal wants to encourage everyone to pop by the Yazzi booth #919 to see these great bags.  Be sure to ask about embellishment ideas for these bags, as it is amazing how much fun you can have to make them uniquely yours.  And don’t forget to enter her $100 Yazzi gift certificate for a daily giveaway at market.

Attendees to Quilt Market shouldn’t overlook the benefits of the APP that is available.  You can download

Quilt Market is also encouraging everyone to stop by the Meet the Teachers area in Hall E (at the back of Aisle F) for a full slate of free demonstrations from Festival teachers and other special presenters. Subjects include everything from threadpainting to traditional blocks and studios to “space blankets.”  Additional info can be found at:
