nights before chistmas party

Welcome to another celebration of the Nights Before Christmas.  I hope you are enjoying this holiday season and are also enjoying this virtual party.

Anyone who wants to help celebrate the holiday season with good quilty fun and a lot of giveaways, freebies and tutorials can participate.  You’ll find:

  • Freebies will be shared with every event post.
  • Giveaways offered throughout the event, where followers can enter to win any prize they are interested in.   Winners will be randomly announced and notified on December 25th.
  • A Linky Party for those that want to share any Christmas or Winter themed: 1) Giveaway, 2) Freebie, or 3) Tutorial.

Sharing of your holiday projects  (in progress or finished) on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using hashtag #NightsBeforeChristmasParty and/or in the weekly #CreativeGoodness Linky Party that I host every Friday.  While you can’t share in the linky party in this post, when sharing with hashtag you can claim an extra entry in any of the giveaways during this event.

While QuiltShopGal will be shipping prizes directly to winner due to my limited funds (what I can earn through Affiliate programs), the majority of the giveaways will be limited to US Only followers, but there will still be plenty that will be open to WW followers.

Look for “Nights Before Christmas” Party posts on QuiltShopGal, several times a week,  thru December 24th.  But they will most likely always be released in the evening vs my typical release in the morning.

Our sponsor tonight is Martingale and they’ve generously donated a copy of a recently published book “Team Spirit: Get in the Game With 11 Sports-Inspired Quilts“, by Suzzie Schuyler.

To make the most of today’s sports-themed or novelty fabrics, here’s a winning game plan. Discover a strong lineup of patterns designed specifically for large-scale prints–sure to score big points with your family and friends. Choose from 11 quilts, including great ideas for both guys and gals.

  • Beginner-friendly tips, plus quilting suggestions for each quilt
  • Pay tribute to favorite sports, alma maters, and teams, including basketball, football, and NASCAR
  • Be inspired by blocks shown in alternate colorways

The designs in this book are absolutely perfect to show off sports related focal fabrics, but they’d also work great with just about any fabric collection.  As all of the patterns have easy to follow instructions, with great visuals, the nature of these designs make this book perfect for new quilters, but designs will also be of interest with experienced quilters, looking for fun and fast project ideas.

Projects range from table runners to full size quilts, with project sizes that range from 21 1/2″ x 55 1/2″ to  85 3/8″ x 102 3/8″.  And every project has an absolutely delightful sports oriented name (e.g. Tailgating Table Runner, Halftime Event, Game Delay, etc.).  Truly wonderful projects for any sports minded home.

With 11 quilt projects included in this book, this book is amazing value considering what the cost of a single pattern is.  Thus, this book would also make an excellent gift for sports minded quilting friends, or sports mind friends that you want to encourage to learn to quilt!

Share a Christmas or Winter theme giveaway, freebie, or tutorial and claim an extra entry for any of the Giveaways during our #NightsBeforeChristmas Party.

Martingale has many wonderful free patterns on their site.  This free downloadable pattern “knitters trio”, by Karen Costello Soltys caught my attention.  With this zippered pouch, needle roll and needle hanger, it certainly has three fun handmade projects that would make for fun and fast handmade gifts.

Martingale also shares many tips and tutorials on their blog, as well as you-tube channel.

Actually, there are a couple of giveaways you may want to enter:
Martingale is celebrating the release of Moda All-Stars All In A Row, where you can visit the Stitch This Blog to enter to win a copy of this book, as well as a bundle of Moda fabric.
QuiltShopGal is hosting a giveaway, sponsored by Martingale where you could win a copy of Team Spirit.  I will ship this prize to a US Only winner.  If you are not in the US and want to pay shipping ($10-$30 depending where in the world you live), I will happily ship it to such a winner.  Just use the Rafflecopter form below to enter:

If you are interested in winning a copy of  “Team Spirit”, simply use the Rafflecopter Form.  While it only takes one entry to win, there are plenty of options for those that like to increase their chances.  Both lucky winners will be randomly selected, using the random number generator widget in Rafflecopter.  And, I will email them on, or about December 25th, to let them know (my goal is the 25th).

The giveaway today is also open to WW followers, with the caveat that I will pay to ship to US winners, and non-US winners will need to pay for postage, if they wish to claim their prize.

Prizes may not ship until after New Year’s Eve, as I also need to close out shipping prizes for the 2015 FMQ Challenge, and also enjoy the Christmas season.
Don’t forget to  hold Christmas in your heart and enjoy the Nights Before Christmas.  And be sure to use hashtag #NightsBeforeChristmasParty in any social media tool.
