Day 3 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – ASF Lightware Solutions/Beam n Read

12-days-of-christmas

Welcome to day 3 of our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways.    Each day QuiltShopGal will showcase a different sponsor and unwrap (reveal) their gift to one lucky winner.  To enter to win, you need to claim at least one option in the Rafflecopter form, but for those that like to increase their odds, there are a variety of options and you can claim as many as you wish.

I like to think of today as the day the lights go on to light up Christmas.  You may be wondering what I’m thinking, but those of us that have welcome winter probably have noticed that we have not only few hours of good sunlight, but more time to quilt, sew, knit, and create where many of us do not have great lighting.  Thus, today is the day the lights go on, as I want to share insights with you about a great source of personal and very portable lighting.  I also want to share that today, known as Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways, is sponsored by  ASF Lightware Solutions/Beam n Read

183938_518373234840278_506537319_n

I’m a happy user of Beam n Read lights and enjoy using them throughout the year, but they are a “must have” for the winter months.  They are an excellent source of personal light, perfect for handwork (quilting, sewing, knitting, etc), reading and more.  The lightweight structure also allows you to change the angle of the light, which I’ve found it to enable functionality for more than a personal light as you can prop it on a table, shelf, car, and that extra light has been most helpful.    I have also found that the batteries last a really long time, as the LEDs are bright, but don’t require all that much power.

As it is difficult to wear a Beam n Read personal light and take a #Selfie, I want to share with you photos of several of my friends wearing this light.  They just hang it off of their neck (aka hands free personal light), adjust the angle and have great lighting when the read, as well as quilt, sew, crochet, knit, etc..

Here is some info on current products from Beam n Read / ASF Lightware solutions:

QuiltShopGal can honestly recommend Beam n Read as a great product when you need extra lighting for personal work.  I’ve found them to be high quality, very reliable products, offered at a very reasonable price.  Thus, they are great for quilting, sewing, embroidery enthusiasts, as well as those that enjoy reading and more.  They also make for great holiday gifts.

You can find Beam n Read Hands-Free lights in many premiere quilt shops.  If not, ask them to carry them. Wholesale can be placed thru ASF Lightware Solutions.  Retail orders can purchase online at ASF Lightware Solutions / Reading Light, but you can also purchase online at Amazon.

Welcome to day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways.

Today, I’m delighted to have Marjorie Busby of Blue Feather Studios as our sponsor today.  Marjorie is a talented quilter, long-arm quilter, as well as machine embroidery digitizer.  For those that enjoy machine embroidery, as well as interested in learning machine embroidery I hope you’ll enjoy this post.  I’ll be showcasing many of Marjorie’s beautiful machine embroidery designs, as well as heightening awareness of her freebies, and hosting a generous giveaway sponsored by Marjorie, for one lucky machine embroiderer.

And, the special gift from Marjorie, which will be shipped to one lucky winner, by QuiltShopGal, is open to WW followers.  Time now, for me to share insights about Marjorie and her beautiful machine embroider designs.

Marjorie shares tips, tutorials and inspirational projects on her blog, as well as by way of guest posts on the Craftsy blog and AccuQuilt blog.

MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGN COLLECTIONS are available on Marjorie’s Blue Feather Quilting Studio online store that can be downloaded.  She also has many available from AccuQuilt, where some are downloadable and some are available via CD, as well as from the Craftsy store.

QuiltShopGal has  stitched out many of her designs and they always stitch out perfectly, with amazing detail.  Her designs stand out with great detail, super crisp lines and angles, minimal or no jump stitches, and the obvious – super cute designs that are very versatile for what you can create with them.  Here are a few examples:

INSPIRATIONAL PROJECT IDEAS

As I’ve mentioned, Marjorie shares tips, tutorials and inspirational projects on her blog, as well as her guest blog posts on the Craftsy blog and the AccuQuilt blog.  While the possibilities of what you can create with Marjorie’s machine embroidery designs are endless, here are a few project by Marjorie that caught my attention:

I’m actually working on fun and fast projects to give as gifts, this holiday season.  In the past, I’ve used her designs to create table toppers, wallhangings, baby quilts, mug rugs, as well as fabric books for toddlers.  What I’m currently working on is for Christmas gifts, which I want to keep as a  surprise, thus I can’t share all of them with you, but I hope you’ll get the idea as I show you a  mug rug that I’m auditioning fabric for binding.  This was stitched using Marjorie’s GO! Sleigh – Reindeer – Snowflakes collection.  Super easy, fun and fast, with amazing detail.

Think about how great mug rugs would look with Marjorie’s snowflakes, reindeers, stars, Christmas trees, or other designs.  Of course, they’d also look great on placemats, table runners,  wallhangings, Christmas tree skirts, clothing, quilts, etc..  And, they’d certainly make for great decorations for your home, as well as for gifts.

FREE PATTERNS  – As mentioned, Marjorie has several free designs that are fun to stitch out and also a great way to see the quality of her machine embroidery designs.

Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – Cherry Guidry of Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio

12-days-of-christmas

To celebrate the countdown of Christmas, today I’m kicking off the first of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways.  Each day I’ll showcase a different sponsor and unwrap (reveal) their gift to one lucky winner.  To enter to win, you need to claim at least one option in the Rafflecopter form, but for those that like to increase their odds, there are a variety of options and you can claim as many as you wish.

I’m absolutely thrilled to have Cherry Guidry of Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio as our sponsor today.

gift-tag-from-cherry-blossoms-quilting-studio

I first met Cherry, many years ago, when she shared a stunning design she created in a Christmas Quilt Show, which I hosted.  To my delight she turned this design into a pattern called Feather Christmas.  This sweet wallhanging is easy and fast to make, especially if you have AccuQuilt dies, or an electronic cutter.  But templates are also included in the easy to follow pattern, for cutting the shapes manually and using raw-edge aplique to secure.

Cherry has a great eye for color and design and she has used her creative gift to design several fabric lines for Benartex:  Soul Blossom, Kitchen Love, Sunday Ride,  Frosty Forest and her newest collection, Mulberry Lane,

Cherry designed a current holiday line of fabric with Benartex, called Frosty Forest, which is a fun whimsical collection of beautiful fabrics that can still be found in many quilt stores and even on Amazon.

At Fall Market, Cherry released a new line of fabric with Contempo, by Benartex  called Mulberry Lane.  She’ll be releasing new  patterns and a coordinating embroidery collection with OESD early next year that will compliment this new fabric line.

PATTERN LINE: After designing her first pattern, Feathered Christmas, Cherry has continued to release many new patterns every year.   Plus, for many of her designs that use raw edge applique’ techniques, that include templates in the pattern, many also have SVG files for use on electronic cutters.  Here are a few of her designs:

MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGN COLLECTIONS – Cherry has several beautiful embroidery collections with OESD.

And, recently Cherry partnered with Sarah Vedeler to create machine embroidery and pattern bundles for Feathered Christmas and Feather Fancy, which include SVG files for those with electronic cutters.

BOOK:  Cherry is also the author of a book “Celebrate The Seasons“, which was published by C&T Publishing.  There are four quilt patterns in this book, one for each season.  Plus, for those that have electronic cutters there are also optional SVG files.

FREE PATTERNS – you can find links to many free patterns designed by Cherry Guidry.  This one has caught my attention:

Just Eat Cake designed to compliment her fabric line with Benartex, called Kitchen Love.

I hope you can see why I’m so thrilled to have Cherry Guidry of Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio as a sponsor for the 12 Days of Christmas giveaways.  She is so talented and I love her whimsical designs and use of color.  And, can you tell how she loves Christmas?  She certainly makes it easy to get into the holiday spirit and want to make handmade items to decorate your home, as well as for gifts.

Cherry has generously donated a special gift to one lucky winner.  It is time to unwrap and reveal what this gift includes.

Happy Thanksgiving

happy-thanksgiving-day

I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with love and happiness.

While I’m thankful for many things, including your friendship, I’m very thankful that we have such a wonderful world of quilting.  My heart aches after reading Bonnie Hunter’s posts, over the past few days @ Quiltville’s Quips & Snips.  She wanted to encourage love and kindness, but some quickly went into attack mode.  Not just for today, but every day, we need to commit to speaking kind words to all.

Here is a song from the Black Eyed Peas, which I feel encourages to spread love and kindness.

Highlights of Fall 2016 Quilt Market

I attended Fall Quilt Market “virtually” and had an absolutely great time learning about new products, finding inspiration from so many beautiful quilts learning tips and tricks along the way.  Did you?  Just to ensure you didn’t miss out today I want to heighten awareness of some great reporters who were at Market and shared their insights.

Donna Ward (Donna’s Quilt Studio) did an excellent job capturing the essence of Quilt Market in a two part video.

Day 1 – Highlights:

Day 2 – Highlights:

Art Gallery Fabrics shared a recap of Fall 2016 Quilt Market on Youtube.  I also want to congratulate them for winning a First Place in the Double Booth category, at Market.  Their booth was very inviting and beautiful, showcasing their new fabrics.

Here are sites that also share insights about Fall Quilt Market and many new products:

Congratulations to the Quilts, Inc. team for hosting another amazing Quilt Market, as well as thanks to all of those that took time to share insights on various social media platforms.  It will be fun to see these new products appearing in our favorite Quilt Shops this coming Spring.

Of course, I’m curious….are there any new items that were introduced at Fall Quilt Market that have caught your attention and you want to create with?

Don’t forget, tomorrow I’ll share my findings for Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales at Fingertip Shopping:  www.fingertipshopping.blogspot.com

Three Blogs

Besides blogging here at QuiltShopGal, I host two other blogs:

My Creative Blog List is primarily a tool to follow blogs.  While I use a variety of tools to follow blogs, this site has become my favorite:   http://mycreativebloglist.blogspot.com/

Fingertip Shopping is a site where I share insights about steals and deals, not just any old sale.  For many years, I’ve researched and shared insights the Wednesday before Black Friday/Cyber Monday.  I’m currently compiling such a list and seeing plenty of great deals for quilting, sewing and embroidery enthusiasts.  I just can’t share them till next week, when you’ll find them at:  http://fingertipshopping.blogspot.com/

But, I can share that today is the last day of a 48 hour sale at Craftsy, where plenty of fabrics, notions, and classes are on sale, where you can get shipping for all physical items, for just $1.  With high costs of shipping, this $1 deal should not be overlooked.  Just be sure to use code “SHIPFOR1” at checkout.

craftst-1-shipping

Great time to buy stocking stuffers and other gifts, as well as supplies to make gifts.  I’m placing an order today to take advantage of their sale and shipping deal.

UPDATE:  I placed my order with Craftsy (e.g. Aurifil, zippers, Dunroven towels, etc) late afternoon and by early evening had a confirmation and tracking number, showing it had already shipped.  Yeah.  In contrast, I placed an order in October with JoAnns that took ten days before it shipped and another 12 before it arrived.

Ruler Work: Dena Wilkins of Living Water Quilter

Today I’m showcasing a talented quilter, Geraldine Wilkins, (aka Dena), who is also a free-motion quilting expert and a Westalee Design by Sew Steady instructor, for Ruler Work.  You may know Dena through her blog, Living Water Quilter.

geraldine_wilkins_living_water_quilter_large

Dena share’s her inspirational work on her blog and Facebook, as well as many tips and tutorials:

She has several Youtube video tutorials.  Here is one where she shares how to create circles using a Westalee Ruler:

And, her most recent video “Free-Motion Ruler Work with Paradox”, shows how to create a stunning design.

BTW – I have found these “Westalee Circles on Quilts” templates available from Patsy Thompson Designs.

For those that are interested in taking a class with Dena, she is located in Virginia.  She is happy to travel the East Coast, Houston Texas and Southern California and is most willing to travel to teach at any other location to teach at Quilt Guilds, Quilt Shops, Shows, etc..  You may want to let your Quilt Guild Event Coordinator, local Quilt Shop, or even Quilt Show Class Scheduler know that you’d like to take a class with Dena in your area.
