Welcome to another #SummerCamp event.  Today I’m delighted to showcase beautiful fabrics and fun projects designed by Jamie Fingal for Hoffman California Fabrics.  These free patterns that are perfect for teaching kids raw edge applique, but there are endless opportunities for #kidfriendlyprojects packed with creativity, encouragement and fun.

Jamie Fingal is a frequent contributor to Quilting Arts magazine and a popular instructor at various quilt festivals and artists’ retreats. She is also a fabric designer for Hoffman California Fabrics.

Her first line of fabric was “Home is where your story begins”, which can still be found in various stores.  Fabric.com, The Fig Leaf, Nancy J’s, Love Quilting,  and eBay, but definitely check your favorite quilt shops to see if they still have any in stock of this lovely and whimsical fabric line.

And Jamie also suggests making using Heart and Soul Sisters fabric to teach kids to sew by learning to make pillowcases.  Another great activity for our virtual summer camp for kids!  Personally, I think what ever you create, with any of Jamie’s fabric lines, would be delightful.  But definitely more fun to use these brilliant and whimsical prints to teach kids to sew and be creative.  Of course, I’m partial to the bold and encouraging words incorporated with these fabric lines.

Jamie also teaches a variety of fun and creative workshops that you may want to check out. You may want to let your Quilt Guild Events Coordinator and your local Quilt Shop know that you are interested in having Jamie teach a workshop in your area.  You can also find her teaching at many major quilt shows.  Here is a link to her current list of workshops: http://www.jamiefingaldesigns.com/p/workshops.html

I hope you find inspiration with Jamie’s fabric, patterns and design ideas and want to create something with kids, or have your kids create something on their own.

Want to know how to join #SummerCamp?

Everyone is welcome to join #SummerCamp, but there have been a few changes due to lack of participation.  To clarify, we’d love to have you participate but we no longer have a linky party to join, nor will there be prizes awarded at the end of this event.  Participants are asked to share what they create on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram and use the Hashtag #SummerCamp.

Here is a list of links to previous posts for our virtual #SummerCamp  (note: I’m investigating how to modify this widget as it only shows the most recent ten vs all posts.  You can do a search on “#SummerCamp” to find all posts in this series):
